Several of our younger teams involved in semi-finals this weekend, and we’re over the moon to see our U7s progress through to the TVDL cup final later this month. Read on for the rest of the match reports ….
Sandgate U7’s through to TVDL League Cup Plate final.
This morning Sandgate U7’s were away to Castle Kickers for the Semi Final of the League Cup Plate
Throughout the game Castle Kickers caused us some problems on the attack and I cannot fault any of our players their attitude towards this game was spot on, we knew we would be in for a tough game and had to step up !!!
We started the game strong looking for the 1st goal to calm the nerves (especially coach Jay’s) with some good football going forward, we saw ourselves get on the scoresheet on the 1st quarter
The 2nd quarter was a little bit more nerve wracking as the team knew another 10mins down meant us closer to a cup final but the job wasn’t over yet as Castle Kickers came at us looking to get back in the game but we dealt with everything they threw at us, this led to us having possession with some good movement and passing saw us add another to the goal tally
3rd quarter… the squad again knew that 10mins down meant that step closer and this quarter is where the game got lively and opened up, as we went looking to kill the game Castle Kickers came looking to get back in the game in a end to end quarter, yet again we defended for our lives and pushed on in last minutes of the 3rd again adding to the scoresheet…
4th quarter… the kids knew 10mins to go and we were in a cup final we tried to just play the last 10 mins but a lack of concentration soon saw us really defending for our lives as Castle Kickers made the last 5mins very very nerve wracking, as they added a few goals to the scoresheet, with minutes left Jay and Tioram made a few changes to sure it up and see out the game.

The U7 colts were at home to Townmead Whites today in the league Vase semi-finals.
Townmead started the game incredibly fast, scoring immediately from kick off. This sparked an incredible reaction from the colts and we were able to defend well and get back into the game although unable to score the next 20 minutes of football was evenly matched with both teams having chances however the scoreline stayed the same.
The Colts forgot about some of the things we have been working on in training and unfortunately Townmead were able to capitalise on our mistakes to increase their lead in the third quarter.
Overall it was a good performance from the Colts today and it's a shame the result didn't reflect the performance, now it's time for the kids to forget about today and focus on next week's training and match!
Players of the week:
MPOTM- Layla, incredible defending and always looked to move the ball forwards when in possession, overall a strong performance from someone who is developing into a very solid player.
PPOTM- Jack, put in a great performance pressing from the front and never giving up on the ball. Another player who is constantly improving week on week.
There was also a third Player of the match today. All of the Parents and myself agreed there was one player who's performance deserved to be recognised...
Shia- This is a young man whose hard work and dedication to improving is becoming more and more apparent as the weeks go on, his confidence on the ball has come on massively and I don't think I've ever seen a player so happy when battling for the ball in defence. Great performance today young man keep working hard!

Today our U8’s played away to S4K Windsor Wolverines U8’s in our Semi Final Cup Game.
With the team fired up we got off to a very strong and confident start.
With goals coming in quickly from Kenny, Theo & Kacie we had a very comfortable lead. Leo L then pushed for another.
Our opposition took the opportunity to use power play and bring on the extra player.
Although we’ve come up against this before today saw us struggle to cover the extra player and they managed to score their first goal which definitely lit a spark in them. They continued to be strong and soon we were back to a level score.
A couple were unfortunate for us, we could have done more but we just didn’t execute in time.
Our opposition managed to get another one in and with 2 minutes left on the clock we just couldn’t find the equaliser to send us to penalties.
We ended the game with a loss, unfortunately meaning we didn’t secure a place in the cup final.
Some may have played it differently to me, however I have consistently spent the season making sure my teams confidence grew. I work to give them as much fair and equal playing time as possible because at this age we are still non competitive and focused on player development.
Would it have been nice to win a place in the final of course but it wasn’t meant to be.
You win some, you lose some.
When we last played this team they beat us 4-1 so today’s result shows our overall improvement.
I saw a quote yesterday that is exactly how I see football at this age.
“Stop making children stand as a sub because your ego can’t take losing a football match!
No one is going to remember the score in a few years time.
But, the kids will remember how you made them feel!”
This sums up development football for me.

Player of the Match this week again went to the whole team. Overall there were some great moments of football today from all of them and they should all be very proud of how far they have come.

U9 Colts played away to Esher.
We started the game with 6 players as Raheis was running late. This really didn't help us as some of their boys were big, fast and strong. Kulraj gave a penalty away by an accidental handball which Esher converted from the spot kick, this gave Esher a really strong boost and they hit us on counter attacks and got more before the end of the quarter.
Raheis showed up for the second quarter and the game was on. We went out and David started strong getting a nice ball from Isaac to slot it in the back of the net but nothing more was materialised.
In the 3rd quarter some of the boys were tired from all the running in the first quarter and Esher capitalised on this and scored another.
In the 4th and last quarter I asked the boys to go out and have fun and prove to themselves that they are fighters and not to give up. Gabriel managed to work some magic and score to try boost us. Mathew was then injured and the time on the ground didn't help us as we was chasing our tails. But the boys gave it their all. Big lesson to the boys today, they had great individual performances but as a team they were shocking only Raheis and David was fighting for the team the others looked depleted and not in the game from the 1st quarter.

MPOTM - Raheis the determination for giving it his all and making up for his lateness was unreal. He had great awareness of the opposition and closed play down but also made incredible passes on the transition to get the ball forward quickly.
PPOTM - David his work ethic in today's game was brilliant and he was fighting with all he had to get the game back on track but his team didn't work with him.
We learn and we now move onto the next one. Only 3 losses this season which is great performance from the Boys considering last season we didn't win any games. Super proud.

U10s played Maidenhead Utd Ravens at home and unfortunately lost
Quarter 1:
Maidenhead started stronger, creating better chances and scoring from their first opportunity. Despite the early pressure, we managed to keep the score at down by the end of the first quarter.
Quarter 2:
We improved significantly in the second quarter and created some good chances. However, we were unable to convert those opportunities into goals.
Quarter 3:
Our efforts paid off in the third quarter when Lukas scored a beautiful goal for Sandgate Red, bringing the score level.
Quarter 4:
Unfortunately, we played the entire match without substitutes, which became a disadvantage as Maidenhead rotated their squad effectively, keeping their players fresh. As the boys grew tired in the final quarter, a few mistakes led to us conceding goals, resulting in an overall loss.
Special Mention:
A huge shoutout to Timothy, who played in goal for the first time and was absolutely brilliant! He made several crucial saves and kept us in the game on multiple occasions — truly our very own André Onana! ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
The boys showed great determination and fought hard until the end. We’ll keep pushing and improving for the next match.

U12 whites played their last home game of the season beating Fullerians 6 - 1.
Some very nice football from the development team and good to see them enjoying the game and playing so well. Some really nice football.

Man of the match went to a few players today as they all done so well. Kenzol gets a special mention as he played for the other team as they were light on numbers and one of their players got injured early. He played really well and it was great to see him play so well (even if it was against us 😂) - He nearly scored also but for a fine save from our GK 1 v 1 in the first half.
Abijit - For going in goal second half - Great goal keeper in training but first ever time playing in goal in a match and did so well. Had the courage to step up and play even though he was very nervous.
Seth - Battled very hard today in CM and really showed he could play winning the ball back a lot and got his first Sandgate goal for our team. Pleased for him as he came so close a few times and really wanted to score. Well deserved goal getting in for the volley at the back post from a lovely corner.
One more game to go for the Whites this season and really pleased with the team and individual development. I hope to get them all back for next season and build on it.

U12Colts played a friendly away at Kew Park Rangers.

With a bare 9, the boys started well with a quick goal from Charlie, his first of the season! He nearly burst with excitement!
This was closely followed by a goal from Jas and a worldie from Ralph who picked up a defensive clearance and shot from just inside the half way line! Another team member notching up his first goal ðŸ‘
Finished the half 3-0 up and all the momentum was with the reds.
Second half saw us get stronger as the Kew heads started to drop, and we bagged 6 more.
Outstanding performance from our 9 boys, we lost 1-0 to this team pre-Christmas! They stuck to the game plan and passed the ball around so nicely today.
So proud of them all, best Mother’s Day Present! ðŸ’

U13 Red played Corinthian casuals yellow. With the bare 11 and a poor performance from the boys from their own high standards.
We ended up winning the game 3-1.

MOM went to Henry who busted a gut all game after playing a full game before hand.

U13 had another double header against Corinthians Casuals Green.
A great first game full of good game play and end to end from both teams. We defended as a unit, limiting them to few if no chances. We then scored a great team goal. We went in half time 1-0 up and second half were solid and compact seeing the game out comfortably.
Second game we came out the blocks running, we played some amazing football, the passing and confidence was great to see, we took the lead early on then came the onslaught, the boys gathered momentum and put away another 4 before half time going in 5-0 up.
Again second half we game managed well secured another clean sheet and 3 points.
Really proud of this group of players, they gave their all today and got what they deserved.

Mom went to Harvey for a tremendous display in midfield, shut down every ball and his playmaking was on point.
Mom went to TK he was put in a slightly different position today, his work rate and game play was amazing and his play on and off the ball was great to see.

So the under 13s went into their final game of the season unbeaten in the league against a team they beat earlier in the season quite comfortably.
With the league already done it was over to the boys as to if they wanted to end it unbeaten and they didn’t look like they wanted to for the first half.
They went 1-0 down in the first half, then 2-0 in the second half and it looked like their unbeaten run was coming to an end. However then something switched and they scored two goals and then it was one way traffic with us looking to win the game. The game ended 2-2 with sandgate colts going the whole season in the league unbeaten and deservedly been crowned champions of the league.

U14s played away to Epsom & Ewell Colts
Going into the game with a bare 11 was a nervous one
But we started solid with a Goal from our speedy striker Jordan who superbly rounded the goalie to make it 0-1 to us
Another two superb finishes from our Captain Jude who hit two off the posts and into the net to put us 3-0
A great bit of team work from our right back Nathan and winger Kai who played a lovely 1-2 with Kai smashing the ball past their keeper to make it 4-0
After half time we slowed the pace down and tried playing some football in windy conditions
We then got another goal from Krish which fell lovely in the box for him to volly past their keeper keeper

U14 Colts lost only their second league game of the season this afternoon and gave up their title chase in the process.
We went to Sheen Lions light on numbers and those that turned up say didn’t bring their best selves. Every team has an off game, and unfortunately for us, this was probably the worst performance in all 3 seasons this squad have been together with not enough of the lads putting in the effort or showing enough fight.
We somehow managed to take a 1-3 lead before falling apart and losing 4-3. Completely deserved to lose and could have been a much heavier defeat. One to put behind us and move on to next week’s game.
