Weekly Match Round up - Sunday 2nd Feb

2 Feb 2025

After another week of heavy rain and bitterly cold temperatures, sadly some of the games were unable to go ahead. Congrats to the U7s and U7s colts who had a great time at the TVDL mini festival. Read on to hear all about it and the other games that survived the weather...

Saturday

U12 whites drew 2-2.

Sunday

The Under 7’s were a part of the Thames Valley Development League Football Festival this morning at Slough Town FC

Firstly a huge thank you to TVDL and Slough Town FC for hosting the event ! We all enjoyed the morning

We started off the festival vs Eton Wick Bees in our 1st fixture, the game was very entertaining which ended in a draw, Sandgate started the game very lively and on the front foot moving the ball quick and getting forward creating chances..

Goalscorers: Alice, Rueben

In the 2nd fixture we came up against Frontline, this game was a little different, as we had to battle harder and dig deep as we created our chances, this game ended in a win for Sandgate

Goalscorers: Alice , Rueben

Very proud of all the players today, Well done Sandgate U7’s 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

The U7 Colts were also at the TVDL festival of football this morning. Firstly we would like to thank everyone involved in organising the day, kids absolutely loved it!

Our First Match was against the Explorer's Blues, the game started evenly with end to end football being played however neither team could break the deadlock until an unfortunate penalty for the Explorers gave them the lead. The colts struggled to get back into the game after going down.

After a short break and some words of advice the Colts were able to put the previous result behind them and start their second Match against Townmead Whites incredibly strong.

Amazing to see everything we worked on in training come into play, the colts stretched the opposition defence and hounded the goal until eventually we won a penalty, which Brandon (captain for the game) converted. After the Goal Townmead Rallied and started the second half strong, the Colts defended Valiantly and were almost able to hold the lead until full time.

These kids are improving every week and I honestly could not be a prouder coach today.

Well done Sandgate, Up the colts!!! 🔴⚪

U8’s played away to FC Cippenham U8’s this morning.

We again started strong and Kenny slotted in an early goal.

From then the direction of the game

became evident.

I can confidently say we were the better and deserving winning team today but we ended with a draw.

Above anything I am extremely proud of my teams fight today. They battled hard and played fantastic football as a true team having each other’s backs.

It was a tough game to watch and we experienced several questionable decisions.

As one of our parent's told our team, “we won that game today, it may not say it on paper but we know in our hearts we did!” that couldn’t be more accurate.

Despite all the challenges faced today the team continued to dig deep.

Goals: Kenny, Kacie, Ivy

Player of the Match today was an easy pick this week. The whole team fully deserved it for demonstrating what being a team really means.

Beyond proud of this bunch!

Sandgate u10, away at Badshot Lea

Another slow start from the boys cost them 2 early goals, battled to try and get back into the game and got caught again on the counter. Just before the half the boys started to play their football and grabbed vital goals on half time. down at the half… the boys came out into the second half unrecognisable , not sure what happened, but Badshot grabbed several quick goals into the second half to make it, but the boys settled again into the last 10min and grabbed a conciliation goal towards the end. Boys will feel that one and will need to graft harder going into the next game. Not one to forget but one to learn from.

Shout out to Ralphy again for some excellent saves and keeping the score down for the boys. Raphy keep performing as you are and the energy will run back through the rest of the team.

Potm Hussain who was confident on the ball and worked so hard for the whole game

On to the next one.

U12 travelled to top of the league afc AFC Ewell - very competitive game and ended 3-1 to the home team

We travelled very light on numbers due to injuries which resulted in a lot of players playing out of position.

Game started very close, and a sloppy mistake resulted in us going 1-0 down

5 mins after Ronnie was put through on goal scoring do make it 1-1 which was given offside, but he ran from behind their defender which was frustrating.

1-0 to afc Ewell at half time

We quickly went 2-0 down in the second half - game was still 50-50 with afc Ewell scoring a 3rd to extend their lead.

We scored a goal with a few mins to go with the final score being 3-1

A better performance from the boys today compared to last week, still a couple of little bits we need to work on . We have just signed 4 players due to lack of depth within the squad this season and looking forward to the boys settling in, some great signs from them all over the last couple of weeks

Goal from Wayne

Man of the Match Billy was great in the middle for his first game for us and first football match in over 8 months 💪🏻⚽️

U12 reds had a reverse fixture against Mitcham today. Nice long away trip but glad to be playing the game with all the other game cancellations.

We drew 2 - 2 to keep us unbeaten in the league 😃

Mitcham are a decent team, quite highly placed in the league and gave us a few problems which the boys managed to recognise and sort out and get the draw.

The boys really dug deep and pushed hard for a winner but unfortunately ran out of time.

Goals - Matt, Tarila

Man of the match - 2 very good performances today - Tajveer building on last weeks great performance. He really is working hard, very solid in defence and has lovely attacking ideas as a defender. Some fantastic through balls today. Lovely to see.

Also Ethan with an excellent game today. He was very solid defensively helping the defence as RM getting back with his tireless runs. Read the Mitcham attacks well and covered fantastically. Always gives 110% every game and covers massive amounts of ground 💪

Proud of the team for digging deep and working hard.

U13 Reds played away to Mitcham. Controversy as always at Mitcham. Saw us go 2 down after they scored 2 free kicks from free kicks that never were!  Not taking away from the fact the boys just weren’t at the races today. One of those games no matter what we tried it just didn’t work. They hit us on the break a few times towards the end. Ending up losing 5-0.

I have no issues with losing or playing badly but sadly was beyond than today, with turning points of the game being very unfair

Onto next week to get back on track
