Weekend 28/29 September 30, 2024
This weekend was the annual FA Play Safe weekend and we were delighted to show our support. It was great to see such a large number of our parents and carers completed the FA safeguarding and respect online course.
The clubhouse was buzzing once again, as we hosted a Macmillian Cancer charity cake sale. It was amazing to see so many wonderful cakes and we were very proud to have raised £450 for this great cause. Well done to all of you that helped to organise it, helped to sell cakes and to those that baked and donated cakes ðŸ‘ðŸ»
Many of our Teams were involved in the first round of the Surrey League Cup this weekend, read on for all the reports......

U7’s played Windsor & Eton at home, and what a good game it was from both sides with some really good football played.
Same attitude as last week, never gave up and kept battling with everyone having a huge smile and loved playing the game

U8’s played away against Slough Hurricane Gold U8’s
This is a team that some of our squad have played against before. History tells me that they previously found this team a challenge. And again that showed when the opposition scored the first goal there was an air of “here we go again” amongst our team. We shifted that mindset with positive re enforcement immediately. They were overall a good team but our team dug deep, were encouraged to keep their heads up and tried their best to battle on.
Today really cemented that we now know what positions a few players need to be in, so we can work with this moving forward for our future matches.
After all, this is what we are about, developing the young players and with only being at the helm for 3 league matches each player has made me nothing but proud with the effort and determination they have put into not only their training but their matches too!
Getting on the scoresheet today was: Theo, Omar
Player of the Match was awarded to Theo, I didn’t think I would be awarding it to him again so soon but the difference in his football is clearly evident. He was confident and focused, fantastic with communication amongst the team and managed to get himself another goal when put upfront, which isn’t his natural position.

U9 Colts played away to Metropolitan police youth FC.
Once again the boys did us proud!!
Dominating the 1st quarter, Rehaan getting a goal from a quick taken indirect free kick due to a pass back.
2nd quarter we did the same and dominated play not giving them any chances and keeping the ball away from our box, David getting on the score sheet.
3rd quarter Met came out aggressive and physical in challenges and equalised, getting two sloppy goals past us. I asked the boys to stick to our Moto and go for it and boom, Mathew scores then Cristian creates a goal from a tap in and a second from him few minutes later set up by David.
4th quarter was calmer from both teams and we played good passing football. Cristian again from a run in, ran half of the pitch and fired a banger straight in before the ref blew the final whistle to complete his hat-trick.
The boys have picked up great momentum and are growing strong as a team.

POTM - David dominated the midfield, got to every first ball and played great passing assisting 3 times.
PPOTM - Christian for a great hatrick, 2 goals created from him quick thinking and keeping his calm.

U10s played in a quality match against Chipstead. We scored a super team goal from a goal kick with every player touching the ball before scoring. The game was incredible from both teams. Beyond proud with how we played against strong opposition.

U10 Colts played Singh Sabha Falcons
Their players were bigger and faster and pretty physical, but our boys did their best to manage with this which was a good experience for them. We had a few chances to score but the boys were panicking under the pressure.
No Player of the match today as they all did not show their best ability today unfortunately .

U11s played Slough Town.
The opposition were very well drilled with great technical ability and we struggled with the early away start which gave them the advantage. After a first half with them having most of possession but neither team having any real chance, a shot from range by them was deflected and hit the crossbar to start the second half. Five minutes later it was our time to be denied by the woodwork as a free kick by Tejas came bouncing off the post. The game then opened up with their chances coming in waves and us having a few counter attacks spearheaded by the tireless work of Blake. They were definitely the better side today but we managed to hold on.
Managers POTM: Callum for several great saves in the last 15 minutes.
Parents POTM: Vinny for another solid game at the back with well timed tackles and heroic blocks.

U12 won 3-0 in the league trophy v Rayners park vale
A bit sloppy today, should have scored a lot more goals but we got the result in the end. Lots of good Individual performance from the team

U12 Reds lost 4 - 2 in League Cup against Kew Park Rangers – Below par performance by the team who gave it away. Lessons to be learned for the team.

U13 played AFC Walcountains Blue, we dominated the game and pressed hard to break down their 10 man defensive line, but got our breakthrough with some great play and patience in the build up. We went on to score 4 more before half time going in 5-0 up. Second half we done more of the same scoring 2 more and keeping a clean sheet. Final score 7-0

Player of the match went to Tommy K for an outstanding defensive performance and general great play and Tommy G who is growing in confidence each game, scoring goals and fantastic team play.

U13 Reds played in the Surrey league trophy against a Richmond & Kew from a division higher who won our current league last season. We completely outplayed them from the first minute coming away with a 6-3 victory.

U13 Colts - After being 1-0 up against Afc Walcountonians, they equalised and then went 2-1 up. Sandgate colts then responded with a quick equaliser and then 3-2 up. With literally 60secs left Afc walcountians then scored to take it to 3–3 and into penalties. As it went to penalties, with Sandgate having scored theirs, jacob was quite simply set the task to silence his critics. He did so by saving the final penalty which then lead us to win the game.
Man of the match Jacob. Goalkeepers get lots of stick but he overcame his.
Ps they won div 1 last year and were 4 divs higher than us so really good performance based on the leagues difference

U14s played a tough Prem Elite team Waltham and Hersham
Unfortunately just wasn’t our day today
They proved they were in a higher league then us by beating us 1-6
We let 4/5 sloppy goals in which cost us the game. Gotta play the best to be the best

U14 Colts played NPL Youth Rays from two divisions above us in the league trophy this morning.
We started the game strongly and dominated the first 10 mins keeping possession well and creating multiple chances. Rohan gave us the lead taking advantage of this dominance. After the restart we continued the one-way traffic for a short spell and should have comfortably extended our lead but a ragged back line allowed NPL to avoid the offside and get an equaliser.
This gave our visitors confidence heading in to half time as we started to lack composure in possession. We welcomed the break as a chance to have the boys reset and focus on getting composure back in the game.
NPL took the lead following an individual defensive error as we continued to miss converting some great opportunities. We soon converted some of our chances with Adam grabbing a second half hat-trick.
Final score was 4-2, we left feeling frustrated at not having won more convincingly but very proud to have taken control in a game against a team higher up the divisions.

Player of the match - Finley for a strong show in midfield before moving to right back to help tighten our defence. A versatile performance today!

Sandgate Men’s team continued their winning start to the season with an impressive win away at Bedfont Sports. After dominating the first 25 mins and going 2- 0 up with goals from Blackman & Holmes, we let them back into it conceding before the break. We again dominated the second half with some of our best passing play of the season. Two further goals from Blackman and Donaghey, Holmes and J Bevis secured a comfortable win.
