The Surrey League had a half term break, but many of the teams were involved in friendlies. Highlight of the weekend was George Green Juniors displaying some wonderful sportsmanship in the U9s match. Read on to find out more. .....
This morning Sandgate U7’s were at home be Townmead Whites U7
From the off the team were on the ball, hunting down the ball, wanting the ball and looking to play football with by the far the best performance so far, the passing and link up play going forward was spot on !! The entire team never gave up battling and working for the whole game !! Immensely proud of the whole team 🙌ðŸ»

U7 colts played George Green lions today, only had 5 against their squad of 8... Amazing teamwork and The colts played their hearts out but some poor game management from the referee unfortunately reflected on the result.

Our U8’s played in a reversed fixture at home against Harefield Whites U8’s
We were down a few players today with holidays and sickness which meant the team had gaps to fill and position changes.
The first period saw us come out strong we dominated the ball from the minute the whistle blew resulting in the opposition barely getting it across the half way line.
After many chances created and shots fired Leo L delivered our first goal to set the tone for the rest of the match.
Kacie took a shot which just fell short of being a goal because it ricocheted off the crossbar.
The second period saw Harefield get their equaliser, which we soon followed up with goals from Ivy and Kenny giving us the lead lead.
We then started the third period focused and hungry to keep up the hard work with three goals being slotted in by Kacie, Ivy and Kenny.
Our new signing Leo B kept us up when the whistle blew for the end of the period with an absolute cracking save for his first time in goal.
It was clear today that the team weren’t going to settle for that result and continued to sink another two in the final period with one coming from Theo and Ivy walking away a hatrick!
So we finished up with a very comfortable win

Player of the Match this week was the first week where I just had to pick two.
Leo B for not only giving it 100% all game but, today was his second match with us and he stepped up to be in goal and bossed it.
He has become a great addition to our team already.
Secondly it went to Ivy, she is working harder each week and becoming more determined and stronger and her hatrick today cemented the joint

Today U9 Colts played a friendly game Away to Delaford Colts FC U9's.
We started the game strong dominating play, we created loads of chances just couldn't put them away for the first 11mins then a moment of brilliance from the team that saw Ihaan on the back post slipping one in.
2nd quarter Delaford came back fighting and managed to score from a shot that our keeper fumbled.
3rd quarter Rehaan gets the ball on the halfway line runs on the far right and shoots just before entering the box scoring a blinder straight through the keepers hands into the back of the net.
4th quarter Sandgate stepped it up 5levels completely dominated play created loads of chances but credit to Delafords keeper for keeping all but 2 out. With Cristian slotting one in from a brilliantly worked play created by Onish. Then Rehaan with his brilliant shot again from outside the box straight in. But just after the 4th goal Delafords player wasn't happy with the score and took it upon himself to go and pull one back and what a beauty he scored. Crazy game today moments of brilliance from both teams but the score favoured Sandgate in the end, giving our boys the confidence they needed after such little football played this last term.

Managers PLAYER of the match went to Onish. Dominated most of play that he was involved in, set up Cristians Goal. Non stop running, strength and skills. Lead by example as the smallest player but the strongest on the pitch today.
Parents player of the match went to David he played both in goal and in midfield during the game. Brilliant team player while on the field but today his performance in goal was outstanding. The saves he pulled off and clearances whilst in goal. Really brilliant work today

Match Summary: With only six players available, George Green Jnr Jaguars generously provided us with a goalkeeper to ensure a fair game.
We started slowly, conceding an early goal, but Joseph quickly scored an equalizer to get us back into the match. Gaining confidence, the boys took control, with Lukas scoring and Timothy adding more goals.
The first half ended in favour of Sandgate FC.
Second Half:
To encourage player development, we changed the game plan, rotating players into new positions to help them learn and adapt.
George Green Jnr Jaguars managed to score a second goal, but our team defended well to secure a strong victory.

U10 Colts played away to Hurricane FC Greens today which was a very equal encounter, both teams going head to head. Our boys managed to put a very nice move together by passing their way up the field and converting it into a goal by Hussain, first half went to us. We had great chances to extend the lead through Billy but luck was not on our side.
We started the second half well, continuing the great work the boys had done from the first half. The team now looks like they are learning from their previous mistakes and not giving up until the final whistle by holding the home team very well, all thanks to the defensive players today for making it happen and the midfield players for their offensive play. Happy with the win. Really proud of how the boys managed to not let the home team score a leveller.

U11s travelled to Eton to play Langley Lycans
Due to some last minute absences and players arriving late we started with some playing out of position but rising to the opportunity. From very early it was clear they were a step above the quality we have recently been playing and we'd be in for a real challenge. They scored early on as our defence struggled to handle the speed of their forwards. However we were able to hold out for the rest of the first half.
The second half started much like the first but after an injury leading to us only having one sub compared to their five, fatigue started to kick in and the difference in speed grew. Sandgate continued to battle and work hard until the end with Robyn scoring a free kick to give us some hope but, ultimately, it wasn't our day. Callum in goal was amazing and stopped the scoreline from being much worse with several terrific saves.
Much to be learned from playing a team of such high quality and I'm sure they'll all bounce back from it!
POTM: Hughie for another solid game defending and adding to his game with heads up football which lead to dangerous counter attacks.

Slow start for the boys a took a little time to get used to the space and bigger pitch and found us 1-0 down at half time
Changed formation at half time which the boys took well to and played some great football. 2nd half game could have gone either way
