Weekend Round Up – Weekend of 14th September
Plenty of action both home and away this weekend. Bourne Farm was looking amazing as the pitches had been freshly cut and lines remarked. The Veo cameras were up on two of the pitches, so home and away teams could review and analyse their performance afterwards as well. There were some awesome Sandgate cakes on display too. Well done everyone!
Saturday

Sunday
U8’s played at home against Burnham Junior Blues U8’s
Burnham were a very strong and physical team who were well organised with their play. Despite our players giving it their best shot there were clear moments where you could see they found it challenging.
That said, we take this as a positive learning experience where we can use today’s match to pinpoint what we need to focus on for next time.
Our keeper saved a tremendous amount stopping the score line from being greater. The rest of the squad showed determination and kept their heads up.
It’s still early days with this squad and we move on to the next game.
Goal scorer was Leo
Player of the Match was awarded to Theo for finding his confidence again and performing some great interceptions and passing.
Thanks to Lucy for the amazing Sandgate cakes for the team to celebrate their first game together. Yum!

U9 colts played at home Vs AFC Walcountians.
Started strong again by dominating play. The boys played some great passing football and played with heart. They didn't give up on winning first balls and second balls. They kept to their positions and scored some beautiful goals from the second quarter we were leading comfortably so the instructions were not to score and play what we practiced on keeping possession. 4th quarter we agin focused on no more goals and play around in our half, they did just that but due to the midfield and forward being used to going to their natural position on the field they fell asleep and AFC Walcountians scored with 5 minutes to go.
Goals from: David -Rehaan -Ihaan -Isaac -Gabriel -
Potm - Gabriel for great team play, great passing and constantly running after the ball and putting some great challenges in.
Parents POTM – David, and I think we have got the old David back finally.
Looking forward to seeing how the team develops with the hunger these kids currently have, and how they will fair against stronger oppositions.
Very proud. Up the Sandgate!!! 🔴⚪

U9 reds had their first friendly game playing Feltham Panthers . Sandgate dominated the game. Played some brilliant football, coach Samir is doing a brilliant job with them.
The game was all Sandgate we had 3 new kids on the team. Very impressed though by the fight and dedication the Reds showed today to secure the win.
Goals from: Timothy , Lucas , Joseph , Aryan , Ilkai , Caleb
Man of the match went to the whole team. Great first ever game and the boys have proven to Samir they are ready. 💪ðŸ½ðŸ’ªðŸ½ðŸ’ªðŸ½ Up the Sandgate!!! 🔴⚪

U10s
They were leading nicely at half time but let the other team get back in the game, scoring in the last 5 mins to snatch the result.
Lessons learnt for the sandgate boys to never think the game is won till the whistle has blown

U11s had their first game today and coach Jonathan couldn't have been more proud. With lots of changes after a month of rebuilding (including a new coach, several new players, only two training sessions with over 3 players, the step up to 9-a-side and the offside rule) they really rose to the challenge.
They played with great structure and a positive mindset throughout. We dominated from start to finish with Callum in goal having very little to do, their only real chance and goal coming from a penalty. The icing on the cake was a superb goal by Kamal to see us win
POTM the match was a tough one as lots put in a great performance, in particular the defenders who looked solid throughout. Tejas however won it this week for creating lots of chances, working hard defensively and scoring himself.
Goal scorers: Blake, Kamal, Tejas

U12 won 3-1 v westside youth. Some amazing football and a very nice game to watch. Goals from: Dylan, Ruben, Nelson. Man of the Match Tommy
Their coach complimented how polite and well drilled the boys are and how they have a fantastic attitude which was lovely to hear. All the boys encouraged and supported each other.
Also a lot of compliments with how well and set up the club is which was great to hear
--------------
U12 Reds won 4 - 0 against Reigate Priory Ospreys- Great performance all round with no subs today and the boys worked very hard and outplayed the Reigate team.
Goals from - Ethan x 2, Tarila x 2
Man of the match was Daniel who totally controlled the midfield and really showed his skills off in the whole game and was unlucky not to score

U12 Colts played some lovely football today to secure their first Surrey League win, 6-2 V Badshot Lea.
Marco opened the scoring after picking a great through ball from Charlie.
Marco turned to assister when he played in for Khalid to make it two. Badshot got 2 back, but we went into the break 3-2 up after Marco scooped his second.
We focused on keeping our shape, working hard and finding quick link up play and then stormed the second half with two more goals from Marco and one for Jas to secure a comfortable victory 6-2. Riley kept a second half clean sheet with a solid performance in goal.
Some great performances from all the boys especially Charlie, Louie and Mo, but today’s MoM with 4 goals and 2 assists was Marco!
Still got lots to work on, but a great performance to celebrate! 🙌

U13s Reds played U13s Youth in a Sandgate League Derby.
We found ourselves 2-0 down at half time after a fairly even first half. Second half we went 3-0 down after they scored a penalty.
Then last 15mins we managed to score twice from corners each time Ekam getting in the end of them before a rocket of a free kick from Frankie with minutes to go made it 3-3.
MoM went to Frankie for all round solid defensive play and the rocket of a free kick.
-----------------
U13 Colts won 9-0 against Walton and Hersham going 7 goals up in the first half.
It should have been more and a good dominant display as they start their push for back to promotions.
Goals: Harry 3, Terrell, Leon 2, Rahil, Kai, Trevere
Man of the match: Harry W

U14 Colts had a tough fixture against Ashford Town this afternoon. We last played them two seasons ago and had great games home and away.
We were playing on the men’s pitch so we tweaked our formation to add bodies into midfield. This was a great decision as we dominated the game and went 0-2 up with goals from Adam and Jad. We continued to create opportunities but were giving away possession too easily which allowed Ashford to get one back just before half time. 1-2 at the break.
A quick chat about the need to look after the ball while trying to take fewer touches was our focus for half time. We moved formation to try and allow the team to press Ashford higher up the pitch.
The combination of this saw us resume our dominance in the second half. Goals from Romeo and Abraham (on his debut) extended our lead. This saw us relax a little and Ashford created a few chances but failed to convert them.
Our defence remained solid with the support of Jad and Jake working extremely hard in midfield. Further goals from Ryleigh, Adam, and Maruti wrapped up a comfortable 1-7 win on our first away game of the season. Great to see goals spread amongst the team.
Goals - Adam C (2), Jad, Romeo, Abraham, Ryleigh, Maruti.
Player of the match - Jake for a strong and tireless performance in midfield. Took a lot to work so hard on a full size pitch and make it look easy.

Sandgate Men started the season with a 5-0 home win against Richmond Saints. A great performance, dominating the ball for the full 90. Could’ve easily scored 10! Goals coming from Aidan Bradshaw, Ross Lynch, Michael Holmes, Lewis Burksfield and Matt Donaghey. Motm was captain Frankie Jeff who was faultless throughout the 90. Sandgate men continue their streak from the start of last season where they have won every single home game at Pinkwell aka The Fortress
