Sandgate U8’s were away to Townmead Youth Whites this morning in the TVDL quarter final
Sandgate U8’s through to the semi final ��⚪️
Jay didn’t tell the squad it was a cup game to eliminate the pressure and it worked….
We started the game lively and strong, putting pressure on Townmead creating chances but to avail, a lack of concentration saw Townmead take the lead against the run of play, this woke us up and we replied instantly, adding a few more before the end of the 1st quarter.
The 2nd and 3rd quarters were more closer with Townmead and us having chances but both keepers and their defenders keeping each other out. We managed to add a goal in the 2nd and 3rd quarter
4th quarter, A few changes to both teams saw the quarter fairly even, with both teams having spells and creating chances, we added to our scoreline as did Townmead just before the final whistle.

Our U9’s played a home match against Maidenhead Utd Bravers this morning.
A team we were yet to face this season and also a team we know are very strong.
To follow up from the past few weeks the team got of to another strong start. They were battling hard and trying to keep the opposition at bay.
Demonstrating some more lovely link ups and through passing, their team work paying off with Kenny getting one in the net and Sandgate on the scoresheet.
The work rate continued throughout the first half and many more shots were created which unfortunately just didn’t make their way in. We finished at half time up.
The oppositions team talk definitely put a fire in their bellies and they all came out fighting for the second half. A little dip in our focus and starting the second half a little slower than we should have saw us concede an early goal, taking us level pegging
We got our fight back and again some more lovely passing was on display, Kenny was linking up beautifully with Milad, Theo and Leo B were working in harmony on the defence. Leo L worked tirelessly on the wing and Ivy didn’t stop running and was showing even more strength in her game. Shea put in a great shift again this week keeping the score line tight.
Nearing the end of the match and with a break through in open play our opposition took their chance on a shot, Sandgate were on it immediately to shut it down and it passed back and forth between both teams in a very dangerous area of the goal mouth. And just when we thought it was about to cross the line Theo assisted our keeper and managed to deflect it off the line. Meaning the game finished up with a score draw.
Both myself and Dan were extremely pleased with the result today especially knowing that they are one of the stronger teams in our age group.
Each and every player yet again put on a fantastic performance today and their confidence as a team is really starting to shine through.
It was lovely to hear that some parents who don’t get to watch every game notice the growth in the team.
Player of the Match was a tough pick today both myself and Dan had different players in mind and after the only way to settle it being a round of rock, paper, scissors I got to award it to my pick Leo B for a solid performance all game and letting his confidence shine through more and more each week.

Sandgate U10s Reds played the Townsmead Whites at home.
The whites were short two players to begin the game . We ended up giving them two of ours . It was a very nice effort from the boys. Good passing and good defence. Aaron our newest player had a breakout game playing centre mid. Aaron scored goals while playing both sides of the field. Lots of unselfish passing and teamwork. Our Goalkeeper Henry had some terrific saves. Final result Sandgate win.

Singh Sabha Lions vs U11 Colts
The first half was really controlled and we had a chance or two to take the lead but wrong decisions made that task very hard for the boys.
First Half no score draw.
After the team talk and moving some players around to be more attacking we came very close to scoring but Mohammed hit the bar and Nathan missed an open goal. We conceded goals due to defensive and goalkeeping errors.
Final - Sandgate loss.
POTM - sadly No-one played to their potential today.

No league match, so U13 colts had a friendly against Larkspur Rovers from the Harrow League.
Started really well, strong play creating several chances, but just couldn’t convert.
Against the run of play, Larkspur got a goal, but we equalised just before the break with Kian heading in from a Mo corner.
We tried a different formation in the second half to try and open up space and give more options up front, but alas it didn’t quite work out for us today. Some good learnings though in a friendly environment.
Final score 1-4 loss.
MoM- Aymen. Came off the bench with immediate impact, worked really hard and battled for everything in the middle of the park.

U14 Reds played high flying Caterham today. With many boys missing due to Easter holidays and no goalkeeper we was always up against it today!
First half was fairly even and we came in at 1-1 Walter the goal scorer! We held on and were hitting Caterham on the break but some questionable decisions from their linesman put paid to them! We then went 2-1 down an conceded a third late on as the game finished 3-1 but a good performance by the boys despite the circumstances. Let’s hope for a strong finish to the season after Easter!
