Weekend 11/12 Oct
Another great weekend of football for the Sandgate teams. Super to see so many positive reports, including teams bouncing back from defeats or poor performances last week.
Saturday
U13 Whites won against Downley Dynamos 8 -1 in the Chiltern Church League to keep top of the table.
It was a dominant performance from the Whites who are building and developing well.
First half was tight with Frankie and Tarila getting a goal before Joe scored an own goal to go in 2 - 1 at half time. Had loads of chances but didn't score them. The Downley team unfortunately got a couple of injuries which didn't help them and second half the Whites started to take the chances. Jake scoring, Joe getting one in the right goal and Charlie getting his second in 2 games and also assisting a couple of goals. Tarila came on late in the second half and scored 3 goals in 4 mins to finish the game off. Final score 8 - 1.

The under 14 girls visited West Drayton on Saturday morning for a place in the quarter final of the league Cup.
Some excellent free-flowing football from Sandgate gave them an 8 nil half-time lead.
The girls eased off in the 2nd half and were keen to play in different positions. The game finished 9-1 with Sandgate comfortably moving into the quarter finals where they will meet Gunnersbury Eagles.

Sandgate U14 whites played fullerians yesterday. A team they’d previously lost to 4 times last season. However yesterday was a different story. After 20mins we found ourselves 1-0 up with a goal from Leon. We allowed fullerians back into the game. However from then on it was all sandgate and it was new player John who went on to score two.

Sandgate U8’s were away to Sporttiers FC this morning
We started the game fast and determined to put right the wrongs from last week, putting pressure on from the off and creating chances, our hard work in training is starting to pay off in small doses…

This week our U9’s where at home against Taplow Utd Blues.
The team were fired up and ready to go this morning and started off strong and focused.
Another of our newest signings Rome not only got himself his first goal of the season today but he also opened the scoreline for the game in the 9th minute of play after a lovely assist from Kenny.
This week demonstrated another impressive display of football amongst the team, with some lovely link ups and through passing.
Rome very nearly got himself another goal off the back of another fine cross from Kenny. However, it unfortunately hit the crossbar instead.
Izzy then went into score but again hers found its way to the crossbar too!
The fire was definitely in both teams belly’s today and it was a very good end to end game to watch and both teams battled consistently throughout.
As the match was drawing to the end both Kenny and Izzy scored within 3 minutes of each other.
Meaning we took the win today.
Player of the Match this week was awarded to Shea who not only kept a clean sheet but pulled off some impressive saves throughout the entire game. He was literally all over every single thing that came his way!

Our 1st loss of the season
This was a learning experience for the boys. It showed what we really need to work on.
The our team was a step slower from the beginning. Couldn't get the ball past midfield. Our offence had possession less than 20%.

U11 Colts Away vs Singh Sabha Tigers
The boys had a shaky start in their away fixture today, conceding an early goal midway through the first half after a mistake from our goalkeeper. Despite the setback, the boys showed great character and determination, keeping their heads up and ensuring the home side didn’t extend their lead.
Their resilience paid off just before the break, as a well worked move led to a crucial equaliser, a much needed boost going into halftime.
After a firm team talk and a few tactical tweaks, the boys returned to the pitch looking like a completely different side. The second half was a display of total dominance. The passing was sharp, the finishing clinical, and the work rate exceptional. The boys took full control of the game, scoring 6 goals and showing exactly what they’re capable of when playing with confidence and intent.
A brilliant second half performance that secured the win and made both myself (Coach Monty) and Noria extremely proud.

U13s played away v Isleworthians
We Played very well once settled, after another slow start conceding 2 quick goals. It was a very thrilling game with 6 goals in the first 25 mins, very end to end. A great start for the boys to this season another 3 points, very proud of them all and looking forward to many great things this season

U13 Reds won 8 - 1 against Isleworthians Whites to keep us joint top of the league with Wandgas and stay unbeaten in a good start to the season.
Another very dominant performance to build on last weeks great cup win. The boys played some lovely football in places and again their strength, speed, ball control and fitness shone through. First half goals from Tarila x 2, Kenzol getting his first league goal having scored once before in pre season which was great to see and Jake putting us 4 nil up at half time.
Second half we were unstoppable. Tawhid got 2 and could have scored loads more, Frankie getting another goal (his second in 2 days) and JK getting his first goal for us on his Sunday League debut. Really pleased for him having played all of last season in goal and now having time out on pitch. We got sloppy getting back and got caught on the counter attack and conceded a goal but on the whole very pleased with the team progress and start to the season.
Loads of positives from all players, lots of the work from training starting to show through and good to see so many goal scorers.

U13Colts needed a good start today Vs Reigate Priory on the back of two heavy defeats in the cup….and boy we got it.
First minute of the game Mason J played in Inara and she slotted home.
The team were full of confidence and Inara quickly made it two after high pressure on their GK.
Devan got the third from a turnover, and then Inara turned supplier, feeding in her brother Samson for our Fourth.
Role reverse and Samson returned the assist, for Inara to get her third of the game, our fifth.
She then claimed the sixth, delivering a corner which took a Reigate deflection into the goal.
Samson then got the seventh, after some great work down the left from Ralph.
Half time 7-0 up. Yikes!!
Second half we eased off a bit, and Reigate really upped their defensive efforts. Mason J nicked the eighth at the far post from a corner, and then Mason B closed out the scoring with a very skillful individual goal.
Final score 9-0, and our first clean sheet.
PotM went to Inara with 4 goals and an assist. She was on fire today and caused their defence all manner of problems!
And Shout out to Ralph for an incredible effort up and down the pitch on the left!
Reigate arrived with only 9 players, so we agreed to play 9v9. At half time we offered them 2 of our boys but they politely declined.
Winning was great, but winning fairly with good sportsmanship feels even better.
Hats off to Reigate for a great second half, and positive attitude throughout the game.

U14s played Corinthian Casuals away
What a great game, we started well, dominating possession and the play was great. We had multiple chances before a cracking shot from Yusuf from 30 yards hit the top corner. With this we grew in confidence with Melky adding a second before half time.
We made a few changes for the second half and again continued to dominate possession, a well worked team goal with Yuvi adding a third. A great run down the wing and cross led to Ilyas converting a forth. Melky then scoring a great goal from way out and then Yuvi adding a sixth.
Great display of team football, teamwork and the ability to play for one another.

U14 reds played top of the table Caterham who had won every game coming into this one.
We fell a goal behind early on (every game now this season) they were a very strong side and could see why they were top, they then moved 2-0 ahead mid way through the first half. We managed to nick a goal back just before half time and we came out in the second half a different team. Despite going 3-1 down after they scored from a corner, we battled back and our fitness was starting to show. We got a goal back through a very unplanned corner routine. Then we pounced on them again and equalised quickly after. We almost nicked it at the end as well.
Good performance after last weeks shambles.

Sandgate u14 colts played Corinthian causals today. If honest , far from their best performance. Lots of hitting and hoping and not a lot of football. At half time they were told quite simply… play football or do a whole training session of running on Wednesday. The second half was better, they actually tried to pass the ball and had chances where they tested the keeper. Once again we needed something special and that something special came from Tyrell as he latched onto a ball and then put it past the keeper.
Far from their best performance BUT still unbeaten. On to the cup next week where we hope this winning streak continues .

U15s played away to Esher this morning
And it was a classic case of because a team has played two and lost two our team thought we were gonna hammer them.
We were awful from the first whistle. If I had 15 more players today I would have taken every player off and played with new players.
So frustrating when you play so well the week before against a good team and then turn up and play like that. Lost 7-3

Sandgate Men 5–3 Moor Mead
Roger Perry Cup.
Sandgate Men were at home this morning in the Roger Perry Cup, facing Moor Mead, a side from the division below.
As has been the pattern in recent weeks, we started slowly and failed to capitalise on a few early opportunities. Moor Mead were playing the better football and it wasn’t long before they took advantage of a defensive mistake to grab the opener. That goal gave them confidence, and within 20 minutes they had extended their lead to 3–0.
A few changes and some harsh words from the sidelines helped steady the ship, and a lovely free kick was met at the far post by Rodwell to pull one back. We went into the break 3–1 down.
Some very strong words at half time sparked more passion and determination after the restart, although it still took us another 20 minutes to really find our stride. Some good work from Stones in the box allowed Batelle to net our second, a real game-changer. From that point on it was one-way traffic, with Moor Mead dropping deeper and deeper.
On 81 minutes, Rodwell grabbed his second of the game to level things up. We were now in full flow, and the magic man Donaghey weaved through their defence to score our fourth. In the final minute, we were awarded a penalty which was calmly dispatched by skipper Hogg to seal a remarkable 5–3 comeback.
It wasn’t a great performance for the first 70 minutes, but the grit and determination shown to turn things around can only bode well for the future.
