Weekly Match Reports Nov 08/09
Back to league action for all teams this week, some great games played. The teams also did a wonderful job representing the club and observing a minutes Silence for Remembrance, and wearing a poppy on each of their playing kits. Read on to find out more…..
Our U9’s had a very early start for their away match with a 9am KO against 4 Future Pro.
We know from previous games that early starts aren’t for us.
We started slow and our opposition managed to sneak an early goal.
Despite our efforts in the first half we just couldn’t score and again the opposition got through and took their second goal.
The second half saw us play much better football and the game became very end to end. Some good challenges from both sides and a real battle. The opposition again got one past us but we managed to close the gap a little with Rome getting us on the scoresheet. The game ended with a win for our opposition.
Player of the Match was awarded to Milad for demonstrating a strong performance throughout the game.

Under 10 reds played Slough Town Stags kick.
We started the game with intensity and focus the boys implemented some of what we have been learning in practise into a game situation.
We scored multiple goals in the first half and was up with five minutes left. There was a momentary lapse of concentration and focus and the Stags scored some quick goals going into the break.
We introduced a new player today Sirage who blended with the team smoothly. Great passing and unselfish plays by all of the team. The second half, the stags again scored one goal in the beginning. Our defence held their heads up high and held the opposition from scoring any goals the rest of the game.
The final score does not reflect time of possession and many scoring opportunities for us, but we were happy to secure the win.

U11s had a game of 2 halves …
First half was taken from the training ground very impressive.
The ball was moving across the grass at pace left to right the ball went, Rocks Lane Rovers chasing the ball and shadows deserved their lead at the half was an absolute joy to watch. Eesa and Kian goalscorers.
Second half not sure what happened the chances came to finish the game off but the team started playing it long and rushed.
Not finishing those precious chances came back to haunt the boys and the composure from the first half left the team. Rocks lane rovers started winning the 1st and 2nd balls from the long game and in the end the Sandgate boys gave away the game in the end to suffer a loss.
Definitely a game to learn from. Alfie ball at the training sessions this week worked wonders in the first half. No doubt lots of graft and learning to come. Bring on more training!!!! The ingredients are there for these boys to move up a few more levels. Up the Sandgate!

U11 Colts vs Singh Sabha Lions
Our home fixture today was always going to be a tight game, having drawn with this team just a few weeks ago.
The first half was end to end, with both teams pushing hard to find the opening goal, but neither side managed to break the deadlock. The score remained goal-less at half-time.
After an encouraging team talk and a few tactical changes, the boys came out strong in the second half, controlling the tempo and playing with real intent. We were on the front foot, creating plenty of chances, winning corners, and forcing saves from their goalkeeper.
A key change saw one of our defenders move up to striker, a decision that paid off brilliantly, as he went on to score the winning goal. Every player today gave 100%, showing determination and teamwork to grind out a massive win against a very physical opponent. Happy with a deserved win.

He was outstanding today. He defended superbly, maintained his discipline and positioning, and when asked to move up front, he delivered with a decisive goal. A brilliant all round performance from this player.

U13 Reds beat Whitton wanderers 5 - 3 in a great Surrey League cup game.
The Reds played brilliant football today all game. Started really well and really looking good after a couple weeks of scrappy games which was great to see. We failed to take the good chances we created early and we did however make a small mistake which was punished by the Whitton team and we conceded against the run of play. We kept pushing in the first half and our new player Oscar who has just signed got the equaliser on his debut with about 9 mins left of the half. We got caught again with another small mistake which was again punished by Whitton with another goal to go 2 - 1 at half time. The team was playing really well but losing and second half started much the same way with the team playing really well but Whitton again scored to put us 3 - 1 with 10 mins left. Credit to the team as their heads never dropped. The team went all out to push for the win. Scoring 4 goals in the last 10 mins. Ethan got a goal back, Tarila finally got it past their keeper who had a great game to get the equalizer, Oscar got his second goal of the game 3 mins after Tarila which really knocked the wind out of the Whitton team and Tarila got one right at the end of the game to seal a great comeback and keep the league cup run going.

Player of the match could have gone to a number of players including Oscar on his debut scoring some vital goals but Tarila got player of the match for his great work rate and effort both on the pitch but also taking on board the player role that was asked of him and it really sealed a great performance for our team.
Very happy with the team - Showed great desire and self belief and kept battling hard all game playing some great football to watch. Not sure the parents watching have many fingernails left though.....

U13s played away v Sutton only two teams unbeaten in the league were 4-2 up at half time having dominated the first half
Lots of events in the game that influenced the end. we ended up going down to 9 players with 20 mins to go after two red cards.
Proud of the boys today the held onto the lead with until 10 mins to go and conceded a few late goals to end up loosing 6-4
A game we’d all rather forget for a number of reasons.

U13Colts had another tough week, home to Kew Park Rangers (who beat us 3 weeks ago).
The boys played some good football again today, creating chances and linking up nicely, however we let their main striker through too easily, too many times today and it cost us heavily.
The boys came back from 0-4 to 2-4 with a goal from Chinedu, applying pressure to the last man and forcing a scrappy goal, then a great strike from the edge of the box from Kian just before half time.
We didn’t defend well enough today and KPR scored two more quick goals just into the 2nd half.
Riley our GK then picked up an injury and Danyal kindly stepped into goals.
Final score 2-11. Frustrating and unflattering scoreline, despite several periods of good play.
PotM- Charlie- Worked hard all game on the wing and challenged everything. Great to see his confidence returning.
Shout out to Samson for stepping into CB, and doing a great job.

U13 Whites managed to sneak a win today in the Chiltern Church League Cup against Downley Dynamos winning 3 - 1.
We had 2 new players making their debuts and a player making his return after a long time off for Sandgate today which was great to see.
Not a great performance with the team struggling with pace and first touch. Under a lot of pressure in the first half with Callum pulling off a lot of great saves. We managed to get to half time 0 - 0.
Second half started much the same and went behind to an absolute worldie long range goal.
The team started to work a bit harder and connect better part way through the second half. Managed to nick a goal back about half way through the half to pull level. We then continued to pressure looking for a winner. Fares managed to score to put us in front with a lovely first time effort from out side the box after a bit of pinball in the box following a great run from Tawhid to beat 3 players on the edge of the box. This really finished the game off for us and Tawhid managed to get the third goal late on with a nice finish from the edge of the box to seal the win.
Still got a lot of work to do as without some of the Reds helping with the team structure on matchday we would have struggled today. Great to see new players starting and Abiraj got player of the match on his debut at left back so a big well done to him.

U14 played Caterham today, they are top of the leagues and unbeaten so we knew it would be tough. We started well matching them for 30 mins before conceding an unlucky header. With only 2 subs today we unfortunately sustained 2 injuries in the first half leaving us a bare 11. We kept going in the second half but further injury to 3 players meant we could not play at full capacity and with no subs were unable to change. The boys tried their hardest but unfortunately we conceded 2 more. I honestly couldn’t have asked any more from the boys today, they gave their all. Sometimes games don’t go your way and this was one of those days.
MoM went to Harvey who ran his socks off and even when injured stayed on the pitch as an extra body going above and beyond.

U14 reds played Esher Reds at home on the new pitch since the drainage has gone in (superb condition by the way)
We dominated from the first whistle and went 2-0 up. We kept creating chances but couldn’t take any, we should have been out of sight. Esher hit us on the break just before half time to go in at 2-1. We created many more chances again second half but didn’t manage to convert and wer hit again to make the score 2-2. Good performance but frustrating as we should have won comfortably but that’s football for you.

Hard day at the office for the u14 girls away to Alexandra Park. A couple of late pullouts meant our girls started with only 9 players. A difficult start for our girls as Alexandra Park took the lead within 30 seconds of KO. The girls battled hard and still tried to play football. 1 nil at halftime.
Reinforcements arrived at half time and the girls went out with 10 players for the 2nd half.
The 2nd half was a totally different game as the Sandgate girls grew in confidence with a debut girl from Tilly. Magda fired in a screamer from the edge of the box to make it 2-1. With the game finely balanced at 2-2, Gracie fired in a last minute rocket(with her first goal in 3 years) from the edge of the box to seal a 3-2 victory for the Sandgate girls. An incredible victory for the 10 girls of Sandgate ❤️��
