Weekly Match Reports Nov 01/02
Many teams still in half term break, but here is the round up of some of the action:
Sandgate U8’s were away to Maidenhead Utd Dragons this morning
We started bright creating a few chances and knocking the ball around but Maidenhead caught us napping and took advantage, we replied instantly by creating yet another chance and getting a corner, scoring from that corner
The first 2 quarters were a close game then Maidenhead grabbed a few more goals as we still tried getting into the game
We created plenty of chances but couldn’t find the net, on another day could have been a different outcome. I could not fault the kids on their effort today

U9’s played at home against Sporttiers Whites U9’s
To be honest this was the first week I’ve watched the team and not understood what their intentions were.
It was a struggle for them to even play basic football today.
They weren’t following direction. Didn’t communicate with each other the entire game and was a frustrating watch.
However, this was a game they will definitely learn from, which is the point of development football.
The opposition managed to get themselves a comfortable win.
I believe in looking for a positive in each game, there were some improvements through the second half but they just couldn’t pull it back.
Player of the Match was awarded to Kacie for working hard and showing determination.

U10 Reds played away at Townsmead Whites.
Prior to the game we had a discussion on carrying the effort and momentum from last week's second half. The boys did just that. The intensity and focus was there from the beginning.
We scored a beautiful goal from behind the halfway line.
In the second we had great ball movement and excellent assists by Sirage and Aryan to set up scores.

U11 Colts home to vs Townmead Whites
The boys started the match strongly, finding the back of the net twice early on. Unfortunately, we conceded a free kick just outside the box on the left side, which the opposition converted with a well taken strike, a goal that could have been avoided if our goalkeeper had held his line.
We responded quickly with a goal to restore our 2 goal lead. However, another foul near the edge of the box on the right led to the opponents grabbing a goal after a rebound was headed in, leaving the score close going into half time.
After a focused team talk and a few tactical changes, the boys came out with renewed energy, aggression, and determination. The second half was completely dominated by our team, as we maintained control and added more goals, sealing an emphatic victory.

He was outstanding throughout the match, contributing to all our goals and showing relentless effort both on and off the ball. His creativity, work rate, and determination were key to the teams dominant performance.

U13Colts were away to Epsom& Ewell Hoops.
Despite missing several regular starters, the team started really well and matched E&E play for play with the game flowing between both ends.
Sandgate played the nicer football, finding some great 1-2s and linking up multiple passes.
Just before the break, E&E nudged one from a corner when we were slow to clear our lines.
Second half the boys continued to link up, but it quickly escalated as heads and legs tired and 1-0 quickly descended to a 7-0 defeat.
Still in a state of shock tbh. Score didn’t reflect the game at all. Ref came over and said he couldn’t believe the outcome given how well we’d played, and complimented the team on the football.

U13 Reds had top of the table clash with Wandgas. A battle of the two undefeated teams in the division. Someones 0 had to go....
We got off to a great start scoring in 6 mins with a lovely chip goal from Jake. We should have been 3 nil up in 15 mins but failed to take our chances. Wandgas didnt have much chances but we gave away a silly penalty late in the half from a hopeful ball over the top. Wandgas converted to go 1 all at half time.
Second half started very scrappy, we didn't play great football today but sealed the win with 2 goals from Tawhid in the second half, taking the ball round the keeper to win 3 - 1.
A good win for us as this was arguably the hardest game we were due to play in the division but dealt well with the game and stay unbeaten. Not quite top of the league as Wandgas have played a couple extra games.

Player of the match - Mylo. Worked so hard in CM today, a real box to box performance and stuck to his task well which shut off the midfield well. Excellent game from him winning countless headers and tackles.

U14’s played St Helier in the league cup today.
Another great win today, well done to all the boys in what was a tough fought win. They were a well set up team and although at times we struggled a bit we showed our dominance and came out convincing winners.
Some great passionate play today saw us go 2-0 up with some great goals, before a dubious free kick let them back into the game, we then conceded again before regrouping and getting back to winning ways adding a 3rd before half time.
At half time we spoke about smothering the midfield and tracking back, we started strong again adding 2 more putting us 5-2 up. We then unfortunately conceded again before Alfie got on the end of Casey’s corner and put the game to bed.
Well done all, I know some of you felt low and blamed yourselves for mistakes but as I said we win as a team and lose as a team, we learn, we get better and we progress, so keep your heads high, you were an important part of this team winning today.

Archie for a dominant display on the wing, almost scoring from his run through half their team and getting a good assist too.
Yuvi for a great forward performance, topped off with 4 goals and an assist.

U14 Reds took their unbeaten league form to Abbey Rangers today. Had a few missing today due to half term still but had no excuses as the pitch was almost perfect.
We weren’t at our best in the first half but the half ended 2-2 thanks to goals from Areen and Frankie.
Second half was much better and we dominated more of the ball and created a lot of chances. We only managed to convert 2 though as Rupert bagged his first 2 goals for the team!
A half decent performance but lots of room for improvement, but main thing was 3 points in a 4-2 win.
Man of the match went to Rupert who was a constant threat all game and bagged himself 2 goals!
