Most teams were in cup action this weekend! Read on for all the news…..
Sandgate U8’s were away to Eton Wick this morning…
We asked the players to play with intensity but the game started slow for both sides with the ball going from end to end but it was Eton Wick who took the lead, this woke Sandgate up as we upped our game, replying with a few quick goals to give us the lead
2nd quarter and Sandgate continued the intensity and could of nicked a few more goals, while Eton Wick were pressing for the next goal, some amazing defensive work from the squad saw that didn’t happen, we managed to press on and grab another goal…
3rd quarter and some dodgy referee decisions saw us lose the intensity, the 3rd quarter was full of chances for both teams but Rylee and Eton Wick’s Keeper making some good saves saw the quarter out.
4th quarter, we had a few chances this quarter but it was Eton Wick somehow managed to get back into the game and eventually taking the win…

Our U9’s played at home today against Burnham Junior Blues U9’s
We started off a little slower than our previous games this week but that said Izzy managed to score a very early goal taking us to 1-0 within the first 2 minutes of play.
In what became a very physical game from both sides, at times I thought I was watching men’s football. There were some pretty strong tackles on both sides and it was clear that the players frustrations consumed them. Something I will be educating the team on over the next weeks training sessions is how to deal with their frustration better.
Both teams created many chances in a game that was very end to end. The scoreline could have been much greater on both sides but credit to both keepers they pulled off some incredible saves for their teams.
Just as we thought we were about to lose, with seconds left on the clock, Theo took a shot and belted it into the bottom corner scoring our equaliser of the match.
Final result, draw
Player of the Match was awarded to our new little left winger Rome for his sheer determination and for not being intimidated by the opposition.

Sandgate Under 10s reds were away at Eton Wick aswell.
This was our 1st game of the season. The boys played extremely well. We played with only 7 players today. We took a 2 goal lead right from the start but couldn't hold on. Our defensive intensity was lacking.
It was nice see good passing and teamwork for our first game.
All of our scoring happened in the 1st half.
The boys started getting tired during the second half. At the end the score was tied for a draw.
Overall very happy with their play.

U11 Colts Away to S4K Egham Eagles
We started slowly in today’s away fixture against S4K Egham Eagles but gradually grew into the game. After settling down, the team took control and deservedly went one up with some confident play and good build-up.
Just before half-time, however, S4K were awarded a corner, and an unfortunate own goal – a misjudged defensive header that looped over our goalkeeper – saw the hosts level the score going into the break.
After a positive half-time team talk and a few changes, we came out much stronger in the second half. We quickly regained the lead with a well-worked second goal and began to dominate possession and territory.
Unfortunately, in the closing stages of the game, we conceded in the final minutes. Defensive players out of position, combined with goalkeeping errors allowed the opposition to capitalise and snatch the win.
A tough result after such a strong performance for most of the match, but a valuable lesson for the team: the importance of staying focused, disciplined, and in position right up to the final whistle. Final result, win to S4K.

U13 Reds played Staines & Laleham Golds in the Middlesex Cup today winning very confortably 2 nil.
The team really dominated the game from the start. Always nice to see how we compete against teams from outside the league. The boys played some good football in the game and should have scored more but failed to finish a lot of chances. Their GK was fantastic pulling off some great saves. Held Staines & Laleham to only 2 or 3 long range shots.

Player of the match: Mylo - Had a good start to the season in all the games he has played so far and really dominated midfield nearly scoring a lovely shot but matched with a great save.
Another good performance from the team and hoping to carry it on to the next game.

U13Colts were away to Acton Ealing Whistlers in the Middx Cup.
The cups are always tough for us, as every team we face plays in a higher division, but always good opp to learn and test our resiliency!
First half we gave Whistlers a bit too much time on the ball and they were able to chalk up a 3-0 lead. We created plenty of chances, but nothing quite fell our way up front today.
Second half, was much of the same, ending in a 9-1 loss. Our goal coming from some intelligent play by Kian ⚽️.
Plenty to take away as positives, and plenty of things to continue working on.
Shout out to Ralph for non stop effort on the left, and Aymen who is still learning his position but battled well today.
PotM went to Mason B, who worked hard all game, went into every tackle with conviction and always tried to find the right pass moving forwards.

U14's played Westside Youth in the first round of the League Trophy. Being 3 divisions lower than us showed with us dominating from kick off and within minutes scoring our first. From then it was constant attacking and moving the ball really well. We went in at half time 11-0 up.
The second half was more of the same and again in minutes we had scored. It got tough trying to break down 11 men at the back and Their keeper pulling off some really good saves. In the end we went on to score a further 4.

We had two debutants today, Eesa and Illyas, who played extremely well and put in a brilliant performance getting goals and assists between them. Both received Men of the match today.

U14 Reds played away to Football Samurai in the Middx County Trophy. After dominating the first 10 mins we fell behind to a quick break from the opposition. We battled back for the third week in a row and found ourselves 2-1 up at half time.
We dominated the second half and although conceding another goal on the break we ended up 7-2 winners. Bring on round 2.
Goalscorers were: Harry 2, Ibby 2, Ekam, Malek, Izaan.
PotM went to Izaan.

Sandgate U14 colts 8- Uxbridge United 2. A dominating display saw us the boys go 4 goals up before we stupidly let Uxbridge back into the game. However we went and got another and as Uxbridge pushed three up top we then held onto the 5-2 lead. Half time the mission was quite simple. Finish the job and in typical colts style they did. Another three goals.

The under 14 girls started their league campaign with a difficult trip to Walthamstow to face high flying VPR.
VPR started confidently after scoring 21 goals in their last 2 games, the first half was scrappy with Vicky Park forging a 2-1 half-time lead. The 2nd half saw Sandgate change their shape going to their preferred 4-4-2. The game quickly changed in Sandgate's favour as an Inara hat trick completed a 3-2 comeback win. The girls showed a great understanding of the game and showed excellent game management to secure the win.❤️��

U15s played away to Ashstead in the cup today
Very sloppy from our boys today . Started ok Winning a penalty that was slotted home by Jude
Good build up play saw Adam in the box with just the keeper to beat 0-2
Then an exquisite pass to split the defence and came through to Zik who slotted it past the out coming keeper 0-3
HT, We came out a different team Giving away a penalty saw the home team back in it.
We then let them score another two goals to see the game end in a draw. So penalty’s it was

Sandgate Men Edge Through to Middlesex Cup Second Round
Sandgate Men’s kept their winning run alive with a hard-fought victory in the first round of the Middlesex Cup.
First-half strikes from Burksfield and Matt D proved decisive, giving Sandgate a 2–0 lead at the break. Grove Park rallied after the restart and pulled one back with 15 minutes remaining, but never truly threatened to draw level.
Despite having to contend with one of the most challenging pitches the team has faced, Sandgate showed grit and discipline to see out the win.
