After all the rain endured so far this year Sandgate soccer school enjoyed glorious weather for it's opening week with more then twenty kids participating in lots of activities and challenges. The camp even had it's own transfer window for the players as they were split into either the blue team or the red team to compete in challenges, tournaments and a daily quiz. Week one saw the blue team triumph on the final day after both teams were level pegging up until the final event. It wasn't all about competition though as players were also taught skills and given advice from FA qualified coaches and showed great improvement throughout the week making lots of new friends in the process. Children learnt which healthy foods footballers eat and even had a chance to earn points for their team with packed lunch of the day, this became almost impossible to judge as each day all the children really impressed with their wide range of healthy foods.
The final day saw a presentation for all the players where they received a certificate of participation and for players who had completed four days or more a soccer school medal. There were also four weekly trophies up for grabs, two for the age group 6-8 and two for the age group 9-11, the trophies were given for skill and effort/behaviour and the well deserved winners are listed below.
Trainer of the week (6-8) Mathew Cox
Player of the week (6-8) Fletcher Beavis
Trainer of the week (9-11) Joji Kondo
Player of the week (9-11) Ronnie Heath
