Things are starting to hot up as the cold weather starts to hit as Sandgate Youth produced some great performances on Sunday but unfortunately not all results going there way..
We start with the U8's who came from 2-1 down to snatch a 3-2 victory in what was a very entertaining game with both teams producing some great football which was watched by a bumper crowd.
The U11's took part in a Round Robin group of games and continued to show great progress under Dean McCarthy once again displaying some great team play and individual skills and finish the matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing two.
Our U12's played away at Kingstonian Colts and chalked up a great 6-2 win however Manager Barry Nicholl said he was very flattered with the result as Kingstonian dominated the first half and did not deserve to be on the end of such a scoreline. The 12's put in a better display in the 2nd half and capped off another great game of football played by both teams.
It was a difficult day for U13 Colts Mgr Chris Stanborough who was without a few of his players for the tough test against a good Pinner Albion who took control of the game to record a comfortable win & knock the boys off top spot. Chris said the boys will take the result on the chin, learn from it and bounce back next week.
It was better news for our other U13's who enjoyed back to back victories with a tough away 4-3 win at Teddington Athletic with goals from Nibhan (3) & Callum. Nibhan once again put in a Man of the Match performance to help snatch a great win against good opposition.
The school half term has caused problems for some of our other teams too as Darren Thorpe took his U14 Blades to Top of the Table Met Police and despite being a few players light, took the game to the Table Toppers but unfortunately couldn't come away with any points with the very good Met Police side snatching a 1-0 victory.
No such problems for our U14 Arrows & Colts though as both teams once again enjoyed great victories. The Arrows, playing in the League Cup travelled to Hendon Youth and playing under the Wembley arch in front of a huge crowd gave the boys great inspiration and came away with a stunning 6-2 against another strong opposing team. Goals from Jesse Nyarko (3) Sanchez Lopez, Archie Chapman & Daniel Okolo capped off a great team performance to see them safely through to the next round.
The Colts playing away versus W4 Youth were also in fine form recording a 5-1 with a hat trick from Mikey Martin & one from Mechak Ongala plus an unfortunate own goal sealed the victory. Newly appointed England 6 a Side Assistant Mgr Stuart Riglin said " I'm very pleased with both teams progress and development so far this season along with the support I'm receiving from parents and the club."
It wasn't a day to remember for Dan & Alex Simpson as our U15 Colts ended up on the wrong side of a 5-2 defeat to Abbey Rangers despite dominating possesion and creating so many chances. The boys will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways next week.
Jason Boswell took his U15's to Esher Wizards but couldn't re-produce the magic from last week and were spellbound into a 3-0 defeat. It's still been a good start for the team though and we're sure this was just a bad spell... :-)
Our U16's didn't get the results they were hoping for either as Brady & Kevin's Colts couldn't continue to produce the great play they've shown over the last few weeks but still managed to snatch a point in a 0-0 draw away to Manorcroft. Mgr Brady Stone said " It was probably the worse performance of the season but the boys still held firm by not conceding and came away with something from the match which we're pleased with"
The U16 Uxbridge side found themselves on the wrong side of a narrow 1-0 Defeat at home to Sutton Colts with a hotly disputed penalty being the difference between the two sides. The boys are still working hard to compete in this very tough division with a lot of new players coming in and the Management team of Rob Bevis & Tony Heath are hoping to see the rewards of all the hard work the boys are putting in very soon.
Leroy's U18's bouyed from recent victories travelled to CB Hounslow and despite putting in a good performance, could not get the points and lost 3-2 in a very closely contested match.
It was also a lesson for our First team who were soundly beaten 7-1 by Hendon Athletic but Tyler and the boys have leaped up two divisions so they knew this season was going to be tough and will put this down to experience and look forward to next week.
