The Sandgate u8 team playing in their new kit supplied by National Express, took on Foxes White U8s away.
After a string of difficult games and bad luck, the boys were determined to put things right.
We went a goal down against the run of play, but the team showed their character and pulled a goal back through Wictor Genow after a great through ball from Harley Shanks. Aden McCarthy in goal for the first half managed to keep the Foxes at Bay. We went 2-1 up just before half time thanks to Rio McFarlane pouncing onto a Jesse Kenny corner. After the break, Harley went in goal and after good work from Riley Marshall and Muhammed Bah, the ball fell to Jesse Kenny who curled it into the bottom corner.
The Foxes soon scored again making it 3-2. But with teamwork and great defending, the team held onto the victory.
The opposition coach/ref congratulated the Sandgate team for their respect and sportsmanship, in particular checking on and helping up opposition players.
